There will be a Fun Day Benefit-Party for Marty at the Francisco Elementary School, Saturday, June 27 starting at 11:00 am. This has something for everyone! They have food, poker run, corn hole tournament, music, and lots of fun for the kids! For info on the poker run contact Rob Atkins at 336-453-0383, Tammy 336-542-8124 or Brandon 336-486-9360. All money goes the pay medical bills and final expenses for Marty Dean Martin. More information to come next week.

Francisco Elementary celebrated the end of the school year last week. What a time they had! Parent and community volunteers were treated to breakfast last Wednesday at the school cafeteria, hosted by Mary Beth Beasley and Kathy Francis with representatives from the county school administration. William Whitman, a third grader, recited a poem in praise of the volunteers and 4th and 5th graders, Michael Mabe, Trinity Emswiler, Kamie Martin and Treyson Mabe, gave a wonderful group tribute. The volunteers were so appreciative. I heard so many positive things from the volunteers and how much they enjoyed helping out this year. Ruth Hardin, an artist and community volunteer, drew pictures with the K-1 students while the older student took their EOGs last week. They displayed their beautiful artwork in the breezeway of the school. Loved it!!! Friday, after the Kindergarten graduation, the students had a “wet and wild” time with two huge water slides provided by the PTO. Tuesday was Mr. Pete’s last day. Mr. Pete is everyone’s favorite custodian (such a nice man). He will be missed.

Now that schools are out for the summer, kids will be enjoying outdoor activities. Spend some time with them. A fishing trip, a hike through Hanging Rock, or just kicking back and reading a good book with them makes good memories. Learn to be a kid again, you just might enjoy it!
