Fair winners announced


Zachery Young took the Youth Best of Show at the Stokes County Fair this year.


Lisa Robertson took the top prize, $300, in the Stokes County Fair’s Second Annual Fried Apple Pie Contest Sponsored by Smitty’s Apples owner Steve Smith of Pfafftown. Alina Smoot took second place, $100, Lizzy Robertson took third place, $75, and Lara Joyce took fourth, $25.


This YoYo Quilt “Mary’s Flower Garden” submitted by Donna Beck in memory of Sandra Adams was named the Adult Best of Show at the Stokes County Fair.


Zachery Young and Donna Beck took the best of show awards at this year’s Stokes County Fair.

Young’s picture of Johnny Cash took the youth Beast of show award, while Beck’s YoYo Quilt “Mary’s Flower Garden” submitted in memory of Sandra Adams was named the adult best of show.

These entries will be submitted and displayed at the NC State Fair in competition with other Best of Show winners from other Agricultural Fairs in the state. Judging and winners will be announced on Oct. 14. The entries will remain on display thru Oct. 25.

Alina Smoot took second place, $100, Lizzy Robertson took third place, $75, and Lara Joyce took fourth, $25.

Next year’s Fried Apple Pie contest will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17.
