Grace Memola Receives “Good Citizen of the Quarter” Award


Grace Memola, daughter of Frank and Sue Memola and a senior at West Stokes High School, is the first-quarter recipient of the King Rotary Club’s “Good Citizen of the Quarter” award. She received the award during a weekly meeting of the club held on November 12, 2015.

The Scholarship Committee of West Stokes High School chose Memola for the award because of her outstanding academic average, positive character traits, and service to others. Near the end of the academic year, she and the other three recipients of the award will be invited to apply for the King Rotary Club Scholarship. One of the students will receive a $1,000 scholarship which is renewable for three years, and the other three will receive a one-time award of $350.

Memola, an honor student, is actively involved in the Interact Club, Beta Club, HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America, the National Honor Society, and the West Stokes Track Team. Throughout high school, she has volunteered her time to serve others through these student organizations, 4-H, and Bethany Baptist Church. She plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2016 to prepare for a career in the medical field.

The Rotary Club of King, a chapter of Rotary International, is committed to the ideal of, “Service above Self.” It meets each Thursday at 7:00 a.m. at P. B. Clark’s Family Restaurant in King, and guests are welcome to attend club meetings without prior notice for a formal invitation.
