Two people are dead and three others injured following a Nov. 29 three-car collision in the Brook Cove area, according to the state highway patrol.
Trooper C.G. Lemons said a 2001 Toyota car owned and operated by Melissa Johnson Spruill, 42, of Germanton, was travelling south on Hwy. 8, approximately three tenths of a mile north of Brookview Road, at 65 miles per hour when it crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Honda SUV owned by Casey Mendenhall of Walnut Cove and operated by Sulema Moreno, 29, of Walnut Cove.
Lemons said both Spruill and Moreno were killed in the accident.
He noted that the Honda ran off the road to the right after impact and came to a rest while the Toyota continued south on Hwy. 8 striking a third vehicle, a a 2003 Dodge car owned by and operated by Shanice Nicole Brittany Mabe, 24, of Winston Salem. Both vehicles came to a stop in the middle of the highway.
Lemons said Mabe and two passengers, Stacy Hall,21, of Tobaccoville and Megan Church,21, of Winston-Salem, received possible injuries in the accident and were transported to Forsyth Medical.
Lemons noted that all of the people involved were wearing seat belts except for Moreno.
Although it was cloudy and rainy when the accident occurred at around 6:20 p.m., Lemons said weather did not seem to have contributed to the accident.
He estimated the Toyota sustained $6,000 in damages, the Honda sustained $7,000 in damages and the Dodge sustained $3,500 in damages.
