King Christmas parade draws large crowd

Perfect weather Saturday afternoon drew a large crowd to downtown King for the annual Christmas parade. In the commercial category, the Stokes County Militia float was awarded first place and Mayor Choice. C&H Plumbing was awarded second place and Miss Joyce’s Dance Studio was awarded third place. In the Non-Profit category, the United Fund of Stokes County was awarded second place, Boy Scout Troop 415 was awarded second place and West Stokes Prowler Football Cheerleaders was awarded third place. The parade featured both the West and South Stokes high school marching bands as well as performances by a variety of local dance schools. Local fire and police departments, as well as a variety of elected leaders, threw large quantities of candy for the kids lining the streets. The parade also featured the West Stokes Homecoming Queen as well as the Little Miss and Mister King winners.
