Police are searching for a man suspected of passing counterfeit $50 bills Stokes County.

According to Sheriff’s Office Captain Danny Bottoms on Thanksgiving Day the suspect used counterfeit bills at a number of local businesses.

Bottoms said the man pictured in a white shirt and dark colored pants on security footage first went to the Dollar General in Germanton, and paid with a counterfeit $50 bill.

“The same day, the same individual went into Ingles Grocery Store and CVS in Walnut Cove, and paid with a counterfeit $50 bill,” said Bottoms. “The same individual went to the Dollar General in the Meadows community and paid with a counterfeit $50 bill. The individual tried to pay with another $50 bill at Dollar General in Walnut Cove but was unsuccessful at this store.”

Police say it appears that the white male was buying small items and receiving change back. They think he may have been driving a white vehicle, possibly a minivan.

If anyone can identify the white man please call Stokes County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8506.
