U.S. 311 to be closed for bridge replacement

N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are replacing the existing bridge and constructing a new culvert on U.S. 311 over Rickers Branch in Pine Hall; forcing the closure of the road on either side of the bridge.

The work will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, and is expected to be completed by Friday, April 15, 2016.

Built in 1925, the existing bridge had reached the end of its life cycle and needed to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.

Motorists will use N.C. 722 and Madison Road to detour around the closure.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
