The Stokes County Arts Council will sponsor a hand woven beading class at the Stokes County Community Services Building, 700 N Main Street, Danbury, North Carolina. The six week series will begin at Saturday, January 30th and continue each Saturday through March 5, 2016. Classes will be taught by beading artist Carol Carroll from 1:00 p.m. To 3:00 p.m. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk ins are welcome. Individual class registration is $25 per session or $150 for the six-week session. All materials will be provided by instructor. Suggested Targeted Group: Ages 14 and up.
Week One: Saturday, January 30th involves creating the Spiral Bracelet. This class offers students two different size and colors in making a spiral bracelet to fit using either gold or silver plated toggle clasps.
Week Two: Saturday, February 6th involves creating the Right Angle Weave Bracelet. This class offers students a variety of colors of Bicone crystals and Japanese Delica beads to make a bracelet to size utilizing either gold or silver plated toggle clasps or learn to make beaded toggle clasps.
Weeks Three and Four: Saturday, February 13th and Saturday, February 20th involves creating the Peyote Stitch Bracelet. This class offers students a variety of colors to suit student. Week Three of this class will begin the process with student taking home to work on and Week Four will finish the bracelet by adding a Picot edge and clasp.
Week Five: Saturday, February 27th involves creating the Triangle Earrings. This class offers students the opportunity to use the same colors as the Peyote Bracelet. This process gives the student opportunity to combine Peyote and Herringbone stitches to complete earrings with either silver or gold hypo-allergenic wires.
Week Six: Saturday, March 5th involves creating a Star Ornament. This class offers students the utilization of Peyote and Herringbone stitches creating a lovely Star Ornament.
Pre-Registration is limited to ten participants however consideration may be given to group registration.
