Recent water tests of the Walnut Cove water supply show no indication of any bacterial contamination.
The tests were conducted following accusations last week that water supplied by the town of Walnut Cove to the Walnut Tree community contained Coliform bacteria.
“I ordered our testing company to resample the town,” said Town Manager Bobby Miller. “Samples were taken at three locations including Crestview Dr. on Tuesday of last week. Results from those tests showed no presence of Coliform.
Miller said he has asked the testing company to double the number of tests being taken from monthly to bi-monthly and increase the number of testing sites to make sure the the town maintains its water quality.
“Also our public works guys are sampling four sites every morning for water clarity,” he added. “As of Thursday there have been no issues. This leads one to believe that the filters at the Walnut Tree well may well be at the end of their effectiveness. We have contacted the company that installed the filters and told them our intention to replace them. We will be scheduling that in the near future.”
