Nail wins county spelling bee


Stokes County Schools held the 2016 County Spelling Bee on Feb. 2 at Nancy Reynolds Elementary School. Chestnut Grove Middle School student Drew Nail is this year’s winner, and will compete in the Regional Spelling Bee on March 20. Shelby Scott from Germanton Elementary was the runner up. Nail received a trophy and dictionary. Scott received a ribbon and dictionary. Other school level winners were: Eric Highfill from King Elementary, Garrett Moss from Lawsonville Elementary, Brayden Wilson from London Elementary, Blaise Dalton from Mount Olive Elementary, Serena Lester from Nancy Reynolds Elementary, Mikayleigh Burroughs from Pine Hall Elementary, Hailey Goins from Piney Grove Middle, Sienna Chapman from Pinnacle Elementary, Isaiah Ferguson from Poplar Springs Elementary, Kaylee DiJohn from Sandy Ridge Elementary, Zoe Solomon from Southeastern Stokes Middle, and Trenton Bullins from Walnut Cove Elementary.
