Weather Spotter Training to Be Offered in Stokes County


Storm Spotting Class and Weather Safety Presentation Scheduled for Thursday, March 10

DANBURY, NC – The National Weather Service in Blacksburg in partnership with Stokes County Emergency Management will conduct a free storm spotting and weather safety presentation for citizens on Thursday, March 10th, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ronald Reagan Building (third flood) located at 1014 Main Street, Danbury, NC 27016. This informative two hour presentation is open to the public and geared toward anyone interested in weather and/or anyone seeking to become an official storm spotter. All ages are welcome to attend and no pre-registration is required.

This entertaining and informative presentation will discuss the following topics:

* Basics of Thunderstorm Development

* Fundamentals of Storm Structure

* Identifying Potential Severe Weather Features

* Information to Report

* How to Report Information

* Basic Severe Weather Safety.
