Pinnacle Elementary School wins Battle of the Books


Pinnacle Elementary School won the county Battle of the Books.


Sandy Ridge Elementary School took second place in the county Battle of the Books.


Walnut Cove Elementary School took third place in the county Battle of the Books.


The Stokes County Schools Elementary Battle of the Books final competition was held April 18, 2016 at Nancy Reynolds Elementary School. Pinnacle, Sandy Ridge and Walnut Cove Elementary schools competed for the title of Elementary Battle of the Books champion. Pinnacle Elementary placed first with Sandy Ridge Elementary placing second and Walnut Cove Elementary placing third.

The competing schools placed first in competitions held with other elementary school teams within each of Stokes County’s three districts. In preparation for this competition, team members began reading books from the Battle of the Books reading list at the beginning of the school year. The contest involves collaborating with team members to answer specific questions about the books in a “quiz bowl” format.
