Two Stokes County men are facing a variety of drug charges following the execution of two search warrants by the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office last week.
On April 26, the Special Investigations Division along with the Stokes County Special Response Team served a search warrant at 516 Mcalster St., Walnut Cove, where they discovered cocaine and marijuana as well as the materials needed to package the narcotics for the purpose of selling them, according to Stokes County Captain Danny Bottoms.
He said several devices for the purpose of using narcotics were also located in the home.
“The most disturbing and unfortunate discovery in the home was two children under the age of three,” said Bottoms.
As a result of that search, Benny Anthony Canez, 30, was charged with felony trafficking of cocaine, felony possession with the intent to sell, or deliver cocaine, felony maintaining a drug dwelling, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of a firearm by a felon, child abuse, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is under a $100,000 bond.
On April 28, the Special Investigations Division along with the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team served a second search warrant at 3516 Old Hwy 52, Pinnacle, where Bottoms says evidence of narcotic activity was discovered. As a result of that warrant,Jonathan Martin was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a drug dwelling, felony possession of methamphetamine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. he is under a $5,000 secured bond.
“We will continue to strive to keep this off our streets,” said Sheriff Mike Marshall.
