Despite strong winds and a very brief shower, the annual Meet Me On Main celebration drew hundreds of people to downtown King on Saturday.
The annual festival, sponsored by the King Chamber of Commerce and the city, drew well over 600 people according to Chamber Director Cathy Loveday.
“I was really happy with the event,” she said, noting that some vendors had been very pleased as well. “We had more vendors this year than we have ever had before.”
“I want to thank the city and the fire department and police department for all of their help,” said Loveday. “We also had a lot of help with parking from King Moravian Church, King International, Liberty Gas Station, Carroll Memorials, Helsabeck-Hall Insurance Agency, Slate Funeral Home, Gatewood’s Auto Detailing, King Drug Company, and King Elementary School. We are really appreciative for our sponsors, Walnut Ridge Assisted Living, RiverStreet Networks, Miss Joyce Dance Studio, Carroll Signs, Fireblade Graphics, Mitchell’s Nursery & Greenhouse, and Cooke Rentals.”
Loveday said she expects the event to grow next year, noting that she already has a number of plans for improvements.
