Duke golf tourney helps United Fund

On Friday, June 17, the Duke Energy Belews Creek Steam Station hosted a golf tournament at Oak Hollow Country Club in High Point to raise money for the United Fund of Stokes County. Belews Creek Steam Station has been hosting a fundraising golf tournament for the United Fund of Stokes County for 21 years. This year’s tournament had 27 teams of golfers. Vernon McKinney, a retired Duke Energy employee, and his wife Rhonda McKinney prepared homemade barbeque and slaw for everyone. Michele Mabe, Thadia George, and Melisa Jessup represented the United Fund of Stokes County. Brandon James, Doug Julian, and Reggie Anderson were the tournament organizers. The golf tournament, along with the Belews Creek Steam Station employee contributions and the Duke Energy company contribution plays an important part in how the United Fund can support their 17 member agencies.
