Suspect captured in Rural Hall shooting

A Winston-Salem man in behind bars following an early morning shooting in Rural Hall on Friday.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bobby Eugene Driver, 44, of 535 Old Hollow Road, at approximately 6:25 p.m. on July 3.

Police said Driver was charged with felonious assault with deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and is being held in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

His arrest stemmed from a reported shooting at 4:07 a.m. on July 3 at 215 Lee Street in Rural Hall.

According to police reports, FCSO deputies located one gunshot victim, Lawrence G. Conrad, when they arrived at the scene.

Police say Conrad was transported form his residence to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Police could not provide information on his current medical condition.

After an immediate investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Driver based on interviews and the evidence collected at the scene.
