A Rural Hall man is facing a variety of charges following a July 18 assault in the King McDonald’s parking lot, according to King Police Chief Paula May.
She said King police officers responded to a call at 3 a.m. that day and discovered a 28-year old male, Joseph “Joey” A. Warden ,of Winston Salem, unconscious on the ground with an obvious injury to his head. She said Warden was transported by ambulance to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.
“Upon subsequent investigation, officers determined that Mark Keith Mabe, Jr., 32, of Bay Street, Rural Hall, had assaulted the victim during an altercation in the parking lot,” said May. “Mabe, who fled from the scene on a motorcycle parked at the Waffle House across the street.”
She said Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Mabe at around 11 p.m n July 18 and transported him to the Forsyth County Jail where he was held under a $2,500 secured bond with a court date of Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Mabe was charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, driving while license revoked, and careless/reckless driving. He was also charged with simple assault on another individual at the scene.
The victim, Joey Warden, has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
