Seven-year-old Khloe Jensen of King is legally blind due to a rare congenital condition, but it doesn’t stop the spunky first grader from cheering for the West Stokes Prowlers.
On Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. Powerhouse Training Facility, Hendrix Auction Company, and the West Stokes Prowlers are set to host a BBQ and benefit auction to raise money to acquire and train a service animal for Jensen and assist the family with medical costs.
“I have a child with a heart defect. Leah, my seven-year-old cheers with the Prowlers and that’s how we met sweet Khloe and her family,” said Wendy Rierson of Hendrix Auction Company. “Khloe just has that spark that makes you stop and take notice.”
Rierson contacted Tonya and Becca Hart of Hearts for Paws, a mother and daughter group who pair children with service animals.
“I’m very honored to see the community come together to support us in this fundraiser for Khloe and her family of five this Christmas. The money raised will go towards ongoing training and vet care for the service animal and help the Jensen family with financial assistance,” she said.
Raffle tickets are available to win a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle or $500 in cash. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Hoarders Boutique in King or by calling 336-695-2180. To donate items for the auction, drop them off at Hoarders or call for pick up. Donations can also be made at any Wells Fargo to K-9 for Khloe Benefit.
The BBQ Auction and fundraiser on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. will be held at Powerhouse Gym in King.
Santa Clause will make an appearance and children’s activities and games are planned.
“You never know when you may need someone to stop and get on their knees and pray for you. We’re asking everyone to help Khloe see through the eyes of her very own service animal,” Rierson said.
