Fundraiser for local playground

On any given day, you can ride by most local school playgrounds in our area and children are there playing with their families. The playground at Lawsonville Elementary School (LES) is no exception. The playground at LES is in need of repairs and updates, but more importantly there is the need to purchase equipment which will accommodate children who have mobility disabilities. Due to budget cuts throughout the county, money for playground updates is not available, other than to replace mulch to meet fall zone requirements. We the parents and teachers have taken on the challenge of raising money to help with playground renovations. Playground equipment is very costly and a recent estimate to replace and install equipment to accommodate those with mobility disabilities can cost as much as $50,000 to $100,000.00. This amount may seem inflated; however, school playground equipment must meet rigid safety guidelines and be of commercial grade, thus causing the cost of the equipment to be very high. The PTO is determined to make this dream a reality and provide a place where all children at LES can play.

Lawsonville Parents and Teachers invite you to attend a benefit dinner, May 21st, 2016, 6pm, at Stanley Farms, Sandy Ridge, NC. We will be hosting a BBQ meal and auction fundraiser. Adult plates $8.00 and a child’s plates will be $5.00. No cards will be accepted! There will be activities for children, like face painting and “Travis Frye & Blue Mountain” blue grass band will be on site also, all are welcome! We invite you to like the Lawsonville PTO Facebook and mark “going” on our event page to get regular updates on all the happenings with the event. https://www.facebook.com/events/1531848670456465/.

If you would like to help, bring a dessert or other auction item to Stanley Farm on May 21st between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All proceeds will be going toward the playground fund. Please come out and support our efforts to raise money to replace and repair the playground equipment at Lawsonville Elementary School (LES), Lawsonville N.C.
