The Stokes Stomp Festival, is scheduled for Sept. 10 and 11 with activities aimed for all ages. As the longest running arts council sponsored event in North Carolina, the Stokes Stomp runs along the banks of the Dan River at Moratock Park.
The annual Stokes Stomp parade, sponsored by the town of Danbury, is slated for Sat., Sept. 10 beginning at 10 a.m. This year’s theme is “N.C. State Parks – 100th Anniversary”. Applications are available at town hall or by mail or email. There is no entry fee. The parade will follow the same route as in previous years, beginning at the Government Center and proceed on Main Street to Moratock Park.
Staging will begin at the Government Center Sat. morning at 8 a.m. Restrooms will be available in the lobby of the Stokes County Corrections Center. Marching bands will stage on Sheeprock Rd. and restrooms will be open in Stokes County offices at that location.
Judging of entries will take place between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Awards will be presented prior to the parade beginning. Application deadline is Thursday, September 1, 2016.
