Lenten Study at Snow Hill United Methodist Church

During this season of Lent, everyone is invited to grow in their faith and enrich their observance of Lent by joining in a spiritual growth study at Snow Hill UMC. On Wednesday evenings, beginning Wednesday., March 8, from 6:00 to 7:25 we will be using Max Lucado’s book He Chose the Nails to delve into the foundations of our faith. During this study participants will, “Linger on the Hill of Calvary. Rub a finger on the timber and press the nail into your hand. Taste the tinge of cheap wine and feel the scrape of a thorn on your brow. Touch the velvet dirt, moist with the blood of God. Allow the tools of torture to tell their story. Listen as they tell you what God did to win your heart.”

In this discussion series; Lucado addresses the question, “When Jesus took his last breath, did he secure salvation for humanity or perpetrate history’s biggest hoax? And challenges us to travel to Golgotha and decide for ourselves, through an examination of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding Christ’s crucifixion.” He also addresses why the cross is central to our own search for significance.

We will begin each week with a snack supper at 6 p.m. The study begins at 6:15 in the Snow Hill Sanctuary. Child care will be available and there is no cost for participation. A donation of $15.00 for materials is appreciated. If you would like further information please contact Pastor Pat Spicer at (336) 314-1276.
