Please keep the Barbara Wright Family in your prayers. Barbara passed away last week while as a patient as Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was a very active member of our community and will be greatly missed.

The Beasley Family Reunion will be held Sunday, August 23, at the Francisco Community Building. There will be a business meeting at 12:30 and lunch will be served at 1:00. Everyone should bring a covered dish.

There will be a “Back to School Bash” at the Francisco Elementary School, Friday, August 21. Starting at 5:00 pm., we’ll have hot dogs with all the fixins, games, a bounce house obstacle course and slide. We will also have community information tables set up. From 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, we will have music from Hartrich Farm and Friends, starring Kay Richey and John Hartman of Stringsoup. After that, enjoy a movie under the stars (with popcorn right out of the popcorn popper)! This will be from 8:30 to 10:30 pm. Please bring blankets or lawn chairs. The Francisco PTO gathered the school supply list from Nancy Reynolds and Lawsonville, and together with community support from local businesses and churches, have purchased a full supply for each student from Francisco Elementary School at EVERY GRADE LEVEL! We also have gifts for the home-schoolers and students going to other schools as well. This “Back to School Bash” is sponsored by the Francisco PTO and Surry Telephone with additional help from contributions from the Francisco Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Our Communities teams, Jessup Mill, Cooke’s Rental and area churches. We want this to be a special evening of fun for all these kids. (Parents – you can have fun too!)

Speaking of school – it will be starting back next week. Be extra careful, watch for those kids at the bus stops. The little ones don’t always watch where they are going. Make this a safe and successful school year for Stokes County.
