Thank you for everyone who participated in the “Back to School Bash” for the students from Francisco Elementary School. We had more than enough school supplies for the kids and the people that I have spoken with said everyone had a wonderful time. You know, someone once said that “it takes a village to raise a child.” I’m not too familiar with “villages,” but I do know the meaning of “community.” I know that when there is a need, a community steps up to the plate and does what needs to be done to fulfill that need. We are so blessed to live in such a place.
The Francisco Volunteer Fire Department is currently involved in water rescue exercises. Texie Jessup, a volunteer for the fire department, said that last week they were at Big Dan Lake conducting the exercises and this week they will be at the Dan River. Since our part of the county has access to so many water recreational areas, it is extremely important that our fire and rescue teams know what to do in emergency situations. Let’s hope they never have to use it.
The Francisco Community Building is currently selling tickets for a “Gun Raffle” and “Poor Man’s Supper” to be held September 12 at the Community Building. The supper will start at 6:00 pm. The price of the tickets is $20 and that includes 2 meals. Three different guns are scheduled to be given. To purchase a ticket, see a member of the Francisco Community Building. Proceeds go for the upkeep of the building.
