There will be a Goin-Goins Family Reunion Sunday, October 25, at the Francisco Community Building. Please bring a covered dish and lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.
It’s that time of year again, time for all the ghosts, goblins, and “Donald Trump” look-a-likes to come to your lighted porch and ask for goodies. Francisco Volunteer Department is getting ready for those trick or treaters. The Fire Department will be open Saturday, October 31, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, so come by and get your treats. But beware of the haunted fire truck!
Speaking of the Fire Department, they have received a wonderful grant in the amount of $114,000 from FEMA. This money will be used to buy all new air packs for the volunteer fire fighters. Texie Jessup, volunteer for the fire department, says that the rescue department has now been upgraded to “ambulance and light rescue.” This certification came after our volunteers underwent new extensive training. We are so proud of our volunteers in our fire department and rescue.
Many of you may remember Zack Peeples. He was a member of the Francisco Fire Department a few years ago. Zack and his family moved away to the Mountain Park-State Road area. He and his family recently lost everything in a house fire. Clothes sizes include girl’s 5T or small 4/5, men’s 32/30 pants – med. shirt, men’s 36/32 pants – X large shirt, women’s 14/16 pants – X large shirt. If you can help, contact Jonathan Sutphin at 351-4899.
The “Our Communities” initiative group had the second in a series of three meetings Monday night at the Francisco Community Building. The group debated on community projects and priorities, focusing on what we have control over and what can be accomplished in the next 12-18 months. The Francisco Ladies Auxiliary provided the delicious refreshments and definitely did not disappoint. These ladies can cook! Our next and last meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 16 at the community building. Please come and share with us your priorities for our community plus sample some wonderful desserts prepared by the same cooks!
