The Francisco Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue have just been awarded the State Volunteer Rescue/EMS Fund Grant in the amount of $25,000. Atherton Jessup, fire chief, said that the money will be used to purchase costly rescue gear such as portable radios, turnout gear and the remainder of equipment needed to receive state certification to be “Medium Rescue” certified. We are so blessed to have such a fine group of volunteers in our community!

Exercise classes are set to begin Tuesday, January 5, at the Piney Grove Middle School Cafeteria. Sharon McGeeney, personal trainer and fitness instructor, says she’s looking forward to a good number to participate. So, if you’re looking to shed those unwanted “holiday” pounds, give her a call, 336-325-0497. Sharon, a resident of the Collinstown community, said she has had so much fun with her past fitness groups and hopes more will come, the more the merrier!

Anna Dunkley is doing well after cataract surgery last week.

I pray that everyone will have a wonderful Christmas! Please keep me and my family in your prayers, as this will be our first Christmas without my Mom.
