Congratulations to my granddaughter Ashley Nicole Hamrick for receiving her master’s degree from Keller Graduate School of Management in Knob Noster, Missouri on Saturday, June 20. Parents are Howard and Stephanie Booe of Jefferson City, Missouri and one brother Aaron Booe of Jefferson City. Her husband is Kyle Hamrick; other grandparents are Vance and Sandra Vance of Knob Noster Missouri.

Keyonna O. Joyner graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on May 9 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies, Health Concentration and a Minor in Urban Youth and Communities. Keyonna has accepted a position with Teach for America. She will be teaching high school English in the Mecklenburg/Charlotte school system when school begins in August. She will leave on June 7, for six weeks of training in Tulsa, OK.

Keyonna has worked very hard these past four years which is demonstrated by her grades and the time it took for her to achieve this great accomplishment. Keyonna graduated with honors from South Stokes High School and began her college education at East Carolina University in Greenville. She transferred to UNC-Charlotte her sophomore year where she completed her studies.

After graduation, Keyonna along with her family and friends celebrated her graduation with dinner at Arigato Japanese Steak and Seafood House Restaurant in Winston-Salem. Keyonna is the daughter of Kimber Joyner and Bradley Smith. Congratulations Keyonna for a job well done.

A special thank you to the people who provided everything for the family cookout held at East Walnut Cove Park on Saturday, June 20.

The thought for the week: Learn to pray from anywhere as you can see from all these tragedies that’s going on we all need to pray for one another.
