The Genealogical Society of Rockingham and Stokes Counties will be having their Spring Swap, Saturday, April 30, at the Francisco Community Building. Starting at 9:00 am and lasting till 4:00 pm, this will give you lots of time to share, compare and research your genealogy with others. There will be a copier on site for a minimum fee of 10 cents per copy. Light refreshments will also be available.

It’s coming!! Francisco Community Day will be here before you know it. This huge annual event will be Saturday, May 7, at the Francisco Community Building and Fire department/Rescue Squad. Starting at 7:30 am, breakfast will be available for purchase. Once you and the kids get your bellies full, you can participate in any of the events scheduled for free. There will be a bounce house for the kids as well as the fire safety house for them to go through. There are so many things to see and do! Mom and Dad, you can have your child’s car seat checked to make sure it properly installed and also get an identification card made by the Stokes County Sheriff’s Department. Always enjoyed by all, the Air Care Helicopter from Wake Forest Baptist Hospital will land across from the community building! Free snacks and gift bags for the first 100 visitors and there will be a free hot dog lunch. More about Community Day next week!

Francisco Presbyterian Women will be having a “Tent Event” Saturday, May 14, from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Francisco Presbyterian Church. Vendors may rent a tent for $10 and sell their products. Breakfast will also be available for a donation. For more information, please call Kim Holland at 336-406-1559. This sounds like fun, kind of like a mini-flea market in the middle of Francisco!

Sharon McGeeney, resident of Collinstown, and fitness instructor, now teaches her fitness classes at Nancy Reynolds Elementary School. Her classes start at 5:30 pm on Monday and Wednesday and are held in the gym. To sign up or if you have any questions, give her a call at 336-325-0497.
