Wow! What a hailstorm last Thursday! If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the video on Facebook from the Francisco Fire Department. Words can’t describe it!!

Also, you are all invited to Francisco’s Community Day, Saturday, May 7, starting as 7:30 am. Breakfast will be available for purchase but the hot dog lunch is free. There will be lots of things for adults and children to participate in. Adults have the “hands only” CPR class as well as signing up for our roadside cleanup. You may also bring any old or out of date medicines you may have in your cabinets to be disposed of properly. See a demonstration by Surry Yadkin EMC, and make sure your child’s car seat is installed properly. All kinds of fun activities are planned for the kids such as a bounce house and a fire safety house. A favorite for everyone is the AirCare Helicopter from Wake Forest Baptist Hospital as it makes its landing across from the community building. This big event is sponsored by the Francisco Volunteer Fire and Rescue, a group of hard working individuals whom we are so grateful for.

Have you noticed the playground in Francisco? Yep, progress, I love it! A sincere “thank you “goes to members of the Stokes County Board of Commissioners for unanimously approving the Memorandum of Understanding from the Our Communities of Northwest Stokes Foundation. Upon this approval, volunteers were at the playground shortly after doing much needed improvements to the grounds and equipment as well as preparing a walking trail. On Saturday, May 14, we will have the BIG kickoff, Community Fun Day! More about this next week.

Another event on Saturday, May 14, is the Francisco Presbyterian Women’s “Tent Event”. Starting at 7:00 am, breakfast will be ready. They welcome all vendors to rent a tent for $10 and sell their products till 11:00 am. The cost for the breakfast is donations only. For any information, contact Kim Holland at 336-406-1559. Everyone is invited for some food, fun and fellowship.
