Did you happen to go by Francisco School on Saturday? The grounds were filled with volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got down and dirty. Beautiful plants, flowers, and trees were planted to beautify the school grounds and playground area. Welcome to “Francisco Community Park!” Freshly painted playground equipment, fences and picnic tables and new basketball goals are just some of the many things that have been done to make our playground come alive again. A community herb garden has also been added. Francisco Community Park welcomes families, outdoor sports enthusiasts and just anyone who wants to enjoy the outside to get away from the busy work day. A new walking trail is also in the mix and should be completed shortly. Bring the kids and a picnic basket and spend an hour or a day. Visit, visit again and make it yours!

There will be Bingo at the Francisco Community Building Saturday, May 21. Hot dogs will be ready at 6:00 pm and the games start at 7:00 pm. The cost is $20 for 20 games. This is a cash prize bingo and all proceeds go toward the upkeep of the community building. Hope to see you there.

There will be a community meeting Sunday, May 22, at the Francisco Community Building to discuss the repurposing of Francisco School Building. Everyone is invited to come and get in on the conversation. The meeting starts at 4:00 pm and is scheduled to last until 5:30 pm. There will be activities for the kids so don’t let not having a baby sitter hinder you from coming.

Abbey Dunkley is feeling better after several weeks suffering from kidney stones. Northern Hospital of Surry County took care of that situation. So glad she is on the mend now.

Jennifer Overby will have to have another 6 rounds of chemotherapy to reduce the size of the tumors in her colon and lungs. Please keep Jennifer, her husband Keith, and son Joseph in your prayers.
