Keith, Jennifer and Joseph Overby would like to thank everyone for your love, support, donations and prayers for such a great turn out at her benefit on Saturday evening. What a great community we live in! We would like to personally thank Trinity Baptist Church of Claudville, VA for providing the BBQ cooker and Darryl and Tammy Smith for overseeing the cooking of the meat in such hot conditions outside. Thanks to Maynard Overby, Jason Overby and Clifford Hall for their help in chopping up the BBQ. Thank you to Shirley Nelson, Sylvia Burton, Charlene Doss, Sharon McGeeney, Holly Burton, Carolyn Manuel, Kathy Woods and Mary Lou Jefferson for preparing and serving the food and Emily Overby for collecting the donations. Thank you to the women of Collinstown Presbyterian Church for all the delicious desserts they provided. Thank you to all the musicians who played all the wonderful music throughout the evening. May God bless all of you! We love you all!
Jennifer, Keith and son Joseph delivered this hand written thank you not to me on Monday night. As always, Jennifer looks good. She is a picture of God’s amazing grace! She had just gotten the results of her scan that was done last week and it showed that the swollen nodule on her lung was gone and the tumor had decreased in size. The tumor in her colon had also decreased. She was hooked up to a chemo “satchel” that administers the drug at periodic intervals. She continues to have a wonderful attitude and is such an inspiration to us all.
Mark this down in your calendar. There will be a North Stokes ‘60s class reunion, Saturday evening, September 24, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the school. Anyone who went to North Stokes during the decade of the sixties is invited to attend. Catering will be done by Little Richard’s BBQ of Mount Airy and will be served around 3:00 pm. The cost is $16 per person. Don George is overseeing this event and he needs to get a count of how many plan to come. Please send your check by August 15 to cover the food cost to Don George P.O. Box 1336 Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. You may also want to bring a lawn chair. This is the same weekend for the North Stokes Homecoming game so everyone come out and support the school too.
