If you would like to donate diaper and baby wipes for the flood victims in WV, please contact a member, or the pastor, of Oak Ridge Baptist Church.

The North Stokes High School Class of 1971 will have their 45th class reunion on Saturday, September 24 at Doug Stanley Farm from 6:00 until 10:00 p. m. Barbara Hylton Hazelwood, one of the committee members, says there will be live entertainment by Acoustic Harmonies from Mt. Airy, and a meal will be served. Cost is $30/couple and the deadline to respond is August 15. Please mail payment to Barbara at 548 Scenic Drive, Stuart, VA 24171. This is a casual dress event, and you may contact her at 276-694-6874 if you need further information.

The annual Ridgefest will be October 18 at the fire department. This is a community event, so there will be no charge for food and drinks. If you are interested in setting up as a vendor or wish to provide entertainment, please contact Cody Finch at 871-3881. There is also no charge for vendors to set up.

The Sandy Ridge Music Association welcomes Last Minute and Pressin’ On to Sandy Ridge Community Center on Saturday, August 13 beginning at 6:00 p. m. I started this event in June, 2013. I met Jackie Hawkins at one of the singings and he was very instrumental in helping to organize a committee and form the SRMA. He has since passed away and Willard Nelson and Lloyd Martin have resigned from the committee due to health issues. Presently, Barbara Spencer and I are the only ones on the committee. If you would like to join our committee or help to sponsor this event, please contact Barbara at 871-2170 or myself at 613-5315.

Madeline Watkins has news from Delta UMC. The Day Lilies and Nightingales (part of the UM Women’s Group) will meet at Red Top on Monday, August 1 at 6:30. There will be a Ward reunion on Sunday, August 14 in the church fellowship hall at 1:00 p. m. Friends and family are invited.

Carolyn Manuel has news from Riverside Baptist Church. There will be a community potluck and Bingo on Saturday, August 20 from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. She said this is a good way to meet people in the community and have fellowship.

Danbury Public Library is still collecting recipes for the community cookbook which, hopefully, will be ready by Christmas. If you would like to have your favorite recipe included, please e-mail, or drop off at the library.

I have known this lady for several years as the “book mobile lady.” My Mom, who was legally blind, would always look forward to her coming and bringing audio books. She would never go with me shopping or out to eat if her books were on the way.

Contact Carolyn Craig at 613-5315, or e-mail, if you have Sandy Ridge news.
