Hello April! Can you believe it? I’m not sure where the time is going but it is flying by. They say April showers bring May flowers, so we should be very blessed with flowers.

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at Collinstown Presbyterian Church Saturday, April 8, from 10:30 am to 12:30. Children up to fifth grade are invited to attend. This should be a fun filled time. I remember when my daughter was little; we started hiding eggs in February!

The Genealogical Society of Rockingham & Stokes Counties will hold its next quarterly meeting Sunday, April 9, starting at 2:30 pm, at the new Madison-Mayodan Public Library located at 611 Burton Street, Madison, NC. The speaker will be Dr. Douglas Butler, photographer specializing in NC Civil War Monuments. Light refreshments will be available. They will also have genealogical books for sale; some at reduced prices. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Genealogical Society of Rockingham & Stokes Counties will hold its annual Spring Swap Meeting Saturday, April 22, starting at 9:00 am at the Francisco Community Building. This is a great event at which people bring their genealogy materials, photographs, scrapbooks and other findings to “share and compare” with other people. A copier will be on site and for a modest fee; copies of materials and photographs can be made. Light refreshments will be available and there will be a drawing for two Stokes County Heritage Books, rare Vol. 1 and Vol.2. You do not have to be present to win. Tickets may be purchased from Sandra C. Turney 2394 Brown Mountain Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. The price is $2 each or 3 for $5, or 6 for $10. Include your name, address, number of tickets you wish to purchase and payment. Tickets will also be available that day at the Spring Swap. Bring a friend and join us for some fun.

The Ruritan Club will sponsor Bingo Saturday, April 22, at the Francisco Community Building. Hot dogs will be available at 6:00 pm and the games start at 7:00. The cost is $20 for 20 games and this is a cash prize Bingo. Everyone is invited to attend. All proceeds go to the Ruritan Club.

We still have tables available for vendors at the Francisco Community Market Day to be held Saturday, April 29, at the Francisco School Grounds. To obtain a vendor form, please contact Ruth Ann Harden at 336-351-3151. Anyone who may be interested in selling Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc. or if your church group may want to have a bake sale, just let us know. Our Community Market Day will have something for everyone so expect a large turnout. Breakfast starts at 7:30 am at the community building but all the events and attractions will be on the school grounds across the road. Everyone is invited to come out for a wonderful fun filled day!!

Happy Anniversary to Junior and Sara Mitchell Rogers of the Collinstown community. Junior and Sara have only been married 57 years. They were married April 2, 1960. Blessings to this wonderful couple!!

Prayers for Pete George and Lois Overby. Pete came home from the hospital Monday and Lois is still a patient at Wake Forest Baptist. Continue to pray for these families.

I have had my own cleaning business for 19 years now and when I find something that works I tell others about it. The ladies at Collinstown Presbyterian Church are selling KAYWOS Cleaning Cloths. If you haven’t tried these, I encourage you to do so. They clean mirrors and windows without cleaning solutions and without streaking – really!!! You just have to wet the cloth with water and wring it out. It’s machine washable and let it air dry. It’s a lot of cleaning for just $5. I like that fact that you don’t have to use harsh chemicals to clean with. To get one of these miracle cloths, just call Juanita Mitchell at 276-694-6528.
