Dalton’s Crossing held a fundraising silent auction for the county animal shelter last Thursday as part of an after hours celebration at the store. Store owner Joyce Mauldin-Ray said the animal shelter had long been a passion for her and she wanted to bring businesses in downtown King together to support it. “Some of the businesses were kind enough to donate items so we thought with some of the larger things we would let people bid on them and then all of the proceeds would go to help the animal shelter,” she said. “Businesses contributing to the auction included Dalton’s Crossing, Village Outdoor, Dress My Pet $ More, Long Family Farm Soaps, Little Italy, King Kitchen, Town and Country Restaurant, Tim Bruce Art Gallery, Friend 2 Friend, Lois Cox, King’s Cabin and Gypsy Jayde.
