The Lady Vikings topped Walkertown in three quick sets of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-7 in the first round of the Northwest 1A Conference tournament.
“The girls played great tonight. We focused on areas we know will be important in the game against Mount Airy like covering our hitters on blocks, good serve receive and passing. We still need to work on serve percentages, but it has gotten better,” said North Stokes coach Christine Condon.
Senior Lauren Charleville was 24 for 25 in serving and served 16 points in a row in the first set. She had 4 aces and 10 kills.
Chandley Garner had 7 aces and 9 kills with 6 digs.
Carson Watkins had 8 kills, 4 digs and 5 serve receive.
Megan Condon had 5 aces, 5 kills, 31 assists and 6 digs.
Tana Frye added 18 digs.
Condon said her girls continue to practice in a game-like atmosphere.
“We’ve turned drills into competitions to keep their competitive spirits up and drive them to finish games. We work on recognizing different players offensive styles to see tips and pushes early to improve our reaction time on defense. We also compete against each other with various 6-on-6 rotations. The girls do a great job pushing each other.”
