South picks up two wins

Freshman Lowell Shotton finished first in the 106 weight class by going 4-0, all pins in the first period at the RJ Reynolds JV Invitational on Monday.

Saura wrestlers traveled to Western Guilford and defeated Dudley 54-30 and Western Guilford 52-15.

On Monday at the RJ Reynolds JV Invitational freshman Lowell Shotton finished first in the 106 weight class by going 4-0, all pins in the first period.

Against Western Guilford, Manuel Espino (113) defeated Blake Wilson by pin, Ryan Rice (120) defeated Susano Garcia by pin, John Kevin Fischer (132) defeated Rashad Britton by pin, Josh Patane (170) defeated Ryan Britton by pin, Ozzy Polifka (220) defeated Javon Jackson by pin. Shotten (106) defeated Jacob Lagos by major decision 15-7. Alvin Reynolds (126), Steven Fatz (145), and Samantha Miller (195) won by Forfeit.

South Stokes went on to defeat Dudley 54-30.

Fatz (145) defeated Gerard Rankin by pin and Polifka(220) defeated Malachi Matthews by pin.

Espino, Rice, Alvin Reynolds, John Kevin Fischer, Cooper Ross, Zachary Pressley, and Shotton won by forfeit

South Stokes hosts the Rick Williams Duals on Saturday, Jan. 2 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
