The Vikings picked up another Northwest 1A conference win after topping Atkins 68-57 on Friday.
“We came out really attacking the rim hard which freed up our shooters,” said North Stokes coach David Anderson. “I was pleased with how we shared the basketball.”
Four of the Viking’s players scored double digits. Jackson Moorefield led with 21 points, freshman Zack Chesnet had 16, Jarrett Slate 12, and Austin Pruitt 11.
Moorefield was also 8-for-8 at the foul line along with Andrew Lankford who went 4-for-4.
North Stokes is currently 8-9, 3-3 after defeating Walkertown 55-52 on Tuesday night. Anderson said his team is focused on continuing to improve their defense, rebounding, and decision making as they enter into the second half of conference play.
Lady Vikings overwhelmed by Atkins
After a promising win against West Stokes early in the season, a first since 2011, the Lady Vikings have struggled to keep the momentum going. On Friday, the ladies fell 61-23 to Atkins making it their 15th loss of the season. Sarah McBride led with seven points and senior Lauren Charleville added six.
North Stokes teams travel to East Surry on Friday.
