North Stokes seniors left their mark on the program in the last game of the regular season. The Vikings rallied for an 81-70 win against Walkertown with every twelfth grader on the roster scoring.
Jackson Moorefield finished with 29 points, Logan Stevens 20, and Jarrett Slate 16 along with Andrew Lankford, Cole Smith and Alex Sams.
“Offensively I thought we played well. Jackson, Logan, and Jarrett consistently knocked down shots. We are a lot better when we get scoring out of three or four people,” said North Stokes coach David Anderson.
Zach Chesnet dished out six assists and pulled down 11 rebounds.
“I thought Zach had one of his better all-around games,” the coach said.
North battled Bishop McGuinness in the conference tournament quarterfinals but fell 67-52. Winston Salem Prep took the Northwest Conference Tournament title honors after defeating Mount Airy 72-64.
The Lady Vikings defeat Wolfpack 42-31
North Stokes ladies trailed Walkertown in the first quarter by three points, but barreled back to take an 18-14 lead at halftime.
Coach Mitch Reeves said his team has played much better in the last two games.
“They’re having fun and playing hard. It’s good to see it pay off with a win on senior night. It was a total team win and I was proud of all the seniors,” he said.
Freshman Lora Wood pulled down several key rebounds late in the game and Sarah McBride took over in the fourth quarter adding seven points.
“It was awesome to see these two underclassmen work so hard so the seniors could go out with a win,” Reeves said.
McBride and senior Megan Condon led with 11 points. Wood added six, Lauren Charleville five, Katie McHone four, Tori Mabe three, and Myranda Cook two.
