The girls and boys track teams at Piney Grove were first runners up at the Foothills Conference Track Championship held at North Stokes on Friday.
The girls were led by Josie Stanbery who took first in the shot put and discus event. Abigail Hemric won the 1600 meter run and Rachel Overby placed first in the 600 meter run. The Lady Panthers also had help in scoring with Skylar Murray, Maliya Wright, Sydney Horton, Makayla Rogers and Hannah Mabe bringing in top places. The 4 x 100 team made up of Emily Edwards, Rachel Overby, Skylar Murray and Victoria Witherspoon finished fourth and the 4 x 200 team of Adreana Bryant, Rebekah Fulp, Emily Edwards and Tessa Sprinkle came in fifth place.
For the boys team, Elijah France won the shot put and discus. Devin Stanley took first place in the long jump and fourth in the 100 meter run. Alex Zuber had a second place finish in the shot put and came in sixth in the discus. Jackson Heath finished second in the 400 meters and fourth in the 200 meter run. Jaden Smith had a second and third place runs. Manley Stovall finished in fifth place in the shot put. Gabe Oerter and Jeremy Gray took home sixth place finishes in their field event and the 4 x 100 relay team of Stanley, Zuber, Heath and Oerter won second place.
