Springtime in North Carolina means warmer weather, blooming flowers, and most importantly the start of racing season at Bowman Gray Stadium.
The 69th season of NASCAR racing action begins on Saturday, April 22. And just as the drivers slam the gas when the green flag drops, Bowman Gray Stadium starts off its season with a bang.
The 2017 season will open up with the Hayes Jewelers 200 presented by Q104.1 New Country. The Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series will duke it out in the 200-lapper – the longest and most prestigious race of the season. The Texas Steak & Tap House Sportsman Series has a 40-lapper on the schedule, plus exciting racing for the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series and the Law Offices of John Barrow Stadium Stock Series.
Looking forward to the rest of the season, some old fan favorites return with some new added attractions taking the stage. The ever-popular Fans’ Challenge returns once again to the 100-lap Modified races, giving drivers the chance to win $15,000 in prize money. And, of course, Two Dollar Ladies’ Nights will once again offer admission for only two dollars to all females ready to see the greatest show in racing.
The Great Clips Night of Destruction brings Monster Truck Car Crushing to the madhouse. And mark your calendars now – a new event known as the Crash Fest is coming to the Stadium on May 20. On that night, get ready for triple the action as a Skid Race, Chain Race, and Demolition Derby light up the night.
And plenty more action packed nights will be brought to you once again by Kevin Powell Motorsports, Whelen Engineering, the Winston-Salem Journal, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Great Clips, FOX8 WGHP, Colors Edge, and Carolina Farm Credit.
But it all starts on April 22 with the Hayes Jewelers 200. Qualifying will take place on Friday, April 21. On Saturday, April 22, ticket gates open at 6:00 for practice, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM.
