Sarah Jane Mabe and family want to thank all who participated in the Benefit Bike Ride/Poker Run held on Saturday, June 7.

Sarah Jane was paralyzed from an automobile accident this past February, and with limited insurance, funds were needed for physical therapy.

The ride was a huge success with approximately 200 bikers participating and several cages (autos).Between the riders, donations, and auctions, more than $18,000 was raised for this worthwhile event.

The riders departed Snake Ranch Cycles, Highway 89, Walnut Cove, at 1 p.m. with stops at Foothills Market and Grill (Highway 704/772) and Little Ray’s Place (Highway 770), ending at Hollywood Hollow on Highway 8, Lawsonville at 4:01 p.m. There a delightful barbecue meal was provided by Ray Shinault.

Thanks to all who had a hand in organizing this benefit ride with special recognition to Gray Mabe and Matt Dodson. Also, the Rockingham and Stokes County Fire Departments and Walnut Cove Police Department are to be commended for a superb job in providing assistance controlling traffic at various points during the bike ride/poker run, and to Ray Reynolds Photography for providing digital photos of the ride.
