Several area gymnasts competed at recent state meets Dec. 5 in Hickory and Dec. 12 in Albemarle.

Mel Moseley, Kyla Sullivan, Hailey Sheppard, Paige Hayden, Cali Oehman, Taryn Brooks and Erin Griffith all train at Hart Gymnastics Academy in King and are coached by Beth King.

Oehman took first place in the all around and floor events, competing in Level 5. She also placed second in both the beam and vault and third on the bars.

Brooks also competed in Level 5, placing second in the floor and all around and fourth in the vault, bars and beam.

In Level 4, Sheppard took first in the vault, third in the bars, fourth in the all around and 10th in both the beam and the floor.

Sullivan finished second in the floor and third in beam, competing in Level 4. She was ninth in the all around, 11th in vault and 15th in bars.

Moseley was second in bars, sixth in vault, seventh in all around, eighth in beam and 11th in the floor.

Hayden placed seventh in the floor, ninth on the bars, 11th in beam and 12th in vault.

Competing in Level 6, Griffith was ninth in bars, 13th in all around, 15th in floor, 17th in vault and 18th on the beam.
